Anitra Galmore, DNP is a healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience in health services, with a focus on improving patient care and operational efficiencies. She is currently Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at South County Health, a technologically advanced healthcare system providing care to patients across Rhode Island. She oversees and leads global operations for the health system that features 1,600+ employees across seven ambulatory care sites, three with express cares, and South County Hospital, the flagship facility of South County Health. A 100-bed acute care hospital, South County Hospital is the only hospital in the Northeast to have received consecutive 5-Star rankings from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) for Hospital Quality and Patient Experience.

Prior to joining South County Health in April 2020, Dr. Galmore was Vice President of Nursing/CNO at SSM Health St. Joseph in St. Charles, MO, and SSM Health in Wentzville, MO. The two hospitals – including the 410-bed trauma center offering highly-specialized care for critically ill patients including advanced open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, and oncology; three urgent care centers; three outpatient centers; a joint venture/ambulatory surgery center – expanded their bottom line margin by more than $7 million under Anitra’s leadership. The Wentzville Hospital is a 77-bed free-standing behavioral health specialty hospital inclusive of emergency services, outpatient treatments, and transitional care.

Dr. Galmore earned a Doctorate of Nursing (DNP), from Saint Louis University in 2023, with her research focused primarily on Antimicrobial Stewardship in Urgent Care Settings. She was awarded a Master’s in Health Administration from Lindenwold University in 2011, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University in 2009. She holds Advanced Nurse Executive Certification and Bronze and Silver Certifications in Lean Methodology. In 2024, Dr. Galmore was the named Providence Business News’ 2024 Health Care Service Industry Leader, as part of their Business Women Award program. She serves on multiple community boards and has presented at national conferences.
